Malita shares down by 4.65%

MSE Daily Trading Report, March 13, 2018

The MSE Equity Total Return Index continued to trade in negative territory today as it drifted 0.11% lower, finishing the session at 8,593.334points. A total of seven equities were active,generating a total turnover of €456,581 over 44 trades. Four of the seven active securities traded unchanged, while two loswt ground, making RS2 Software plc the only gainer for the session.

The banking industry was responsible for two-thirds of the turnover generated today. Bank of Valletta plc was the most liquid equity of the day, as 112,657 shares traded across 20 transactions. The outcome was a 0.55% reduction on value, settling at a price of €1.82.

HSBC Bank Malta plc shares stood second in traded volume, as six exchanges worth €101,508 were effected. In spite of this trading activity, The equity closed unchanged at €1.84.

In the property sector, Malita Investment plc was the worst performer as it was down by a substantial 4.65% to €0.82, as a result of three deals in which 22,500 shares were exchanged.

RS2 Software plc was the only positive mover of the day, climbing 0.77% to reach a price of €1.31. Trading volume amounted to 53,009 shares, across six trades.

A single deal in MaltaPost plc and two deals in Mapfre Middlesea plc were registered on slim volumes, however both these equities traded flat at €1.90.

Similarly, Malta International Airport plc closed unchanged at €4.94, despite a turnover of €51,870 over three deals.

Yields in the sovereign debt market  were down as 10 out of 16 active issues registered gains. The strongest performance was recorded by the3% MGS 2040 which advanced by 0.36%. On the other hand, the largest loss was registered by the 4.45% MGS 2032 which fell by 0.19%.

In the corporate debt 16 bonds were active, fiveof which posted falls while another three experienced an upward movement, the remaining issues traded unchanged. The 4.5% Grand Harbour Marina plc Unsecured € 2027 headed the list of fallers as they edging 2.33% lower, to €104.51. Heading the list of gainers was the 5.1% 1923 Investments plc Unsecured € 2024 issue, which registered a marginal gain of 0.48%.
