MSE Total Return Index flat as BOV and HSBC move in opposite direction

 The  MSE Equity Total Return Index remained flat closing at 8,639.570 points. A total of 15 issues were active during the session of which gainers and losers tallied to six. A total turnover of  €248,382 was generated across 33 transactions.

In the Banking sector, HSBC Bank Malta plc fully recouped yesterday’s decline as two trades amounting to 10,535 shares managed to lift the price up by 0.55% to close the session at €1.83. On the other hand, Bank of Valletta plc shares closed 0.3% lower at €1.745. A total of two trades saw 3,150 shares exchange hands.

Meanwhile, a single trade of 33,319 shares in Lombard Bank plc wasn’t enough to veer the equities price to close the session unchanged at €2.28.

Global Capital plc, Grand Harbour Marina plc and Santumas Shareholdings plc experienced substantial declines in excess of 5% over a single trade each. The equities closed the session at €0.29, €0.75 and €1.32 respectively.

Retail conglomerate, PG plc continued where it left off yesterday as the equity added on 0.8% to its price to close the session at €1.32. A total of two transaction saw 17,650 shares exchange hands.

In the property sector, both Malita Investments plc, Tigne Mall plc and MIDI plc gained ground by 2.2%,1.2% and 1.4% respectively to close the session at €0.95, €0.87 and €0.46 respectively.

Simonds Farsons Cisk plc shares also gained ground, to close the session 0.8% higher at €6.75. On the other side of the coin Malta International Airport plc shares and RS2 Software plc shares closed the session in negative territory as both equties closed 0.4% and 0.8% higher at €4.98 and €1.25 respectively.

Elsewhere, Plaza Centres plc and Maltapost plc shares closed the session unchanged at €1.04 and €1.70 respectively. 

In the corporate debt front, a total of 11 issues were active of which three headed north, while four closed lower.The 5% Dizz Finance plc Unsecured € 2026 headed the list of gainers during the session as a single trade of 15,000 nominal managed to push the price 0.9% higher at €106.

In the sovereign debt market,  a total of 12 issues were active of which four headed north, while seven closed in the red. The 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) has once again traded below the €101 price level as the bond’s price closed 0.4% lower at €100.83.
