A relatively flat session for the MSE Index

MSE Daily Trading Report, November 5, 2018

The MSE Total Return Index started the week with a positive 0.053%increase, to close at 8,858.766 points. A total of 13 equities were active during the session, of which three gained ground and one closed lower. A total of 45 deals led to a turnover of €218,808.                                           

In the banking sector,Bank of Valletta plcclosed unchanged at €1.34, despite havingfeatured in11 transactions. Similarly, HSBC Bank Malta plcalso closed unchanged at €1.75, across two transactions worth a total of €3,869.

FIMBank plctraded in positive territory, as the priceper shareincreased by 1.32%, to end the day at $0.77. Such increase was registeredover five deals of 15,980 sharesin total.

Heading the list of gainers was Trident Estates plc, beginning the week on a strong note with a rise in price of 7.19%, to close the session at €1.49. A total of 28,731 shares changed hands across 5 transactions, to generate a turnover of €40,634.

To a lesser degree, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc also ended the day positively at €8.1, generating positive returns of 1.25%. This result was achieved over a single trade worth a mere €1,352.

Moving on to the property sector,  Malita Investments plc,Santumas Shareholdings plc, MIDI plc and Malta Properties Company plcall closed unchanged at €0.88, €1.41, €0.72 and €0.52respectively. Elsewhere, Mapfre Middlesea plc, GO plc, Malta International Airport andPG plcalso closed unchanged at €1.93, €4, €6.15 and €1.36.

In the corporate debt market, activity was spread across 19 issues, five of which saw a rise in price, while another eight declined. The 5% Dizz Finance plc Unsecured € 2026 registered the highest gains of 0.67%,toclose at€104.7. On the other hand, the largest loss in price, thatof 1.19%,was registered bythe4% International Hotel Investments plc Secured €2026, to close off the day at €104.

Thesovereign debtmarkethad a negative session, as all but two of the11 active issues lost ground. The 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) registered the weakest performance, as the bond price closed 0.48% lower at €101.
