MSE Index extends positive streak

MSE Daily Trading Report, November 8, 2018

The MSE Equity Total Return Index extended its positive streak to four straight sessions as it closed the session 0.284% higher at 8,931.313 points. A total of 15 equities were active during the session, of which four lost ground, and eight headed higher. An impressive turnover of €0.95 million was generated across 59 transactions.

Bank of Valletta plcregistered and uncharacteristically relatively low turnover as 12,300 shares changed hands across seven deals. The outcome was a 0.74% loss in value to €1.34.

Meanwhile its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc traded once as 22,000 shares changed hands, at a price of €1.78, 1.71% higher than the previous price.

Also in the banking industry, FIMBank plc traded heavily as 200,000 shares changed ownership over three deals. As a result, the equity drifted 1.25% lower to $0.79.

Malta International Airport plc also generated a substantial turnover of €169,275 across four transaction, resulting in 0.81% reduction in price to €6.25.

International Hotel Investments plc closed 1.64% lower over a five trades of a combined 57,032 shares to close the session at €0.60.

Medserv plcposted a sizeable gain of 3.92% to reach €1.06. A total of ten transaction amounting to 80,200 shares were executed.

The best performer of the session was MIDI plc as it climbed 5.88% to a price of €0.72. In total, three deals of a combined 39,800 shares were recorded.

Malita Investments plcalso had a strong session as it added 3.41% in value to €0.91 across eight trades of 79,406 shares.

Also in the property sector, Malta Properties Company plc advanced 4.85% to a price of €0.54. A couple of transactions of 9,500 shares were concluded.

A single transaction of 22,000 Plaza Centres plc pushed the price upwards by 2%, to close at €1.02.

Similarly, a sole deal of 1,455 Santumas Shareholdings plc was executed at €1.41, translating to a gain of 4.44%.

A couple of deals worth €15,800 RS2 Software plc shares shaved 0.85% off the share price, down to €1.17.

Trading in thesovereign debt marketwas spread across 18 issues, eight of which posted losses, while the other one headed north. The worst performer was the3% MGS 2040 (I), which traded 0.36% lower at €115. Meanwhile, the 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) was the only exception with a 1.19% gain in price to €101.95.

In the corporate debt market, from the 18 active issues, sixclosed in the redwhile sevenheaded north. The weakest performances were registered by the 5% Hal Mann Vella Group plc Secured Bonds € 2024, as well as the3.85% Hili Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2028 as both issues lost 0.25% in value. Conversely, the 5% GlobalCapital plc Unsecured € 2021 headed the list of gainers, as it gained 0.96%, to close at €100.96.
