Strong session for local equities

MSE Daily Trading Report, 17 April, 2019

The MSE Equities Total Return Index posted an impressive gain of 0.796% today, to reach 9,422.375 points. Total turnoverin the equities marketamounted to €337,088 as 46 transactions were executed. From 12 active equities, three drifted lower while six posted gains.

In the banking industry,HSBC Bank Malta plc was one of the best performance as it climbed 4.19% to a price of €1.74. A total of six transactions of 29,939 shares were executed.

Its peer,Bank of Valletta plc traded flat at €1.34 across five deals of 18,727 shares.

In the insurance sector, Mapfre Middlesea plc added 1.69% in value to €2.40, as five transactions of 4,135 shares were concluded.

A sole deal of 1,762 Simonds Farsons Cisk plc shares pushed the share price upwards by 2.27%, to close at €9.00.

The top performer was PG plc with a 4.7% increase in price to €1.56. This was the outcome of 11 transactions in which 56,825 shares changed hands.

The most liquid equity was Malta International Airport as €88,357 worth of shares changed hands across four deals. The result was a 0.76% gain in price to €6.60.

BMIT Technologies plc also traded in positive territory, with a 0.93% increase to €0.54. Trading volume totalled 14,671 shares over four trades.

Meanwhile, a single transaction of 500 MaltaPost plc shares shaved a substantial 2.5% off the share price, to €1.17.

Similarly, RS2 Software plc was the worst performer of the session with a 3.52% loss in value to a price of €1.37. This was the result of one deal on slim volume.

Malita Investments plc also traded negatively, with a 1.72% price decline to €0.855. The equity recorded a couple of deals of a combined 13,212 shares.

In thecorporate debt market, a total of 13issues were active, of which sixregistered gains while another twodeclined. The 4% Stivala Group Finance plc Secured € 2027 was the top performer with arise in price of 2.89% to €104.95.

In thesovereign debt market, only four issues were active, three of which posted falls.The 5.1% MGS 2022registered the largest fall of 0.34%, as it closed at €116.50.
