MSE Index recovers some ground

MSE Daily Trading Report, 04June, 2019

The MSE EquityTotal Return Index closed the session on a positive note as it closed 0.059% higher at 9,771.954 points. Nine equities were active, of which five registered gains while another two declined. Total turnover of €174,935 was generated across 47 transactions.

The top performer was Santumas Shareholdings plc as it spiked by 19.01% to €1.69. Two transactions involving 3,200 shares were executed, generating a total turnover of €4,487.

In the banking industry, Bank of Valletta registered a positive performance of 4.48%, as it closed at €1.40. A total turnover of €71,427 was generated across 17 transactions with a spread of 52,987 shares. Earlier today, the bank announced that it has been granted approval by the Listing Authority for the admissibility to listing on the Official List of the Malta Stock Exchange of €50,000,000 Bank of Valletta p.l.c. 3.75% unsecured subordinated bonds 2026 – 2031. Further details are set out in the prospectus dated June 3, 2019, which shall be made available over the coming days.

On the other hand, its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc lost 0.61% to €1.64, as 20,772 shares changed hands across seven deals, ending the session with a total turnover of €34,235.

Malita Investments plc closed 4.27% higher at €0.855 as seven transactions involving 30,750 shares were executed. Total turnover amounted to €25,954.

A single transaction involving 100 RS2 Software plc shares increased price to €0.855 by 2.94%, to end the session with a total turnover of €140.

Similarly, BMIT Technologies plc went up by 2.86% to €0.54 as 34,000 shares were spread across six deals. Total turnover stood at €18,255.

Meanwhile, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc recorded a substantial loss of 12.38%, to end the session at €9.20. Two deals involving 331 shares generated a total turnover of €3,408.

Elsewhere, Tigne Mall plc and Malta International Airport plc were both active but closed unchanged at €7.50 and €0.90 respectively.   

In thecorporate debt market, 24issues were active; of whichfour headed north while another nine closed in the opposite direction. Heading the list of gainers with 0.47%, 4% SP Finance plc Secured EUR Bonds 2029 ended the session at €101.98. On the other hand, the 5.3% Mariner Finance plc Unsecured € 2024 registered a fall of 8.11%, to closed at €102.

In the sovereign debt market, a total of 12issues were active; of which nine advanced while the other three closed in the red. The 2.4% MGS 2041 (I) registered the highest gain of 0.74% to €115.10. Conversely, the 5.1% MGS 2022(I) closed 0.06% lower at €116.50.
