Opposite fortunes for RS2 and BOV shares

The MSE Equity Total Return Index closed minimally higher at 9,806.119 points as nearly €0.6m was traded across 11 equities. RS Software plc (RS2), Malta International Airport plc (MIA) and Bank of Valletta plc (BOV) were the most liquid equities as over €0.4m were dealt across the three equities.

RS2 shares continued their advance, adding a further €0.08 to its price reaching the €1.83 level. Trading increased further from yesterday’s levels, with 99,815 shares being traded over 21 trades. Since the beginning of the year the equity is up by 47%.

BOV shares reached a nine year low, as selling pressure ensued, with 19 transactions of 94,600 shares being executed. The equity closed at €1.13, hence 0.44% lower on the day. During the session BOV shares also traded at €1.12.

Shares of HSBC Bank Malta plc shared a similar faith, as three exchanges of 5,717 shares, sent the equity lower by 0.64% to €1.56.  

MIA plc shares retreated a further 1.41%, to close at €7.00. This activity was sustained over nine deals of 19,150 shares. Elsewhere Mapfre Middlesea plc shares enjoyed a 1.8% increase to reach the €2.26 level, over thin volumes of 613 shares.

In the property sector, Main Street Complex plc shares declined by 3.94%, to close at €0.61. Two transactions of 44,000 shares were recorded. Shares of Malta Properties Company plc traded 1.52% lower at €0.65, over a single transaction with a volume of 2,700 shares.

GO plcMIDI plc and Plaza Centres plc all remained unchanged at their respective prices, as trading activity failed to sway the price either way.

In theCorporate Bonds Market, trading was spread over 19 issues, of which seven headed north and eight headed south. The 3.75% Bank of Valletta plc Unsecured Subordinated 2026 – 2031 gained 1.25% over one deal worth €25,300.

In theSovereign Bond Market activity was mixed, with short-dated issues moving lower and most long-dated issues headed north. This was the result following yesterday’s accommodative tone from the US Federal Reserve, that cast its effect on European yields. Trading activity stood at €876,878 over 29 trades.
