MSE Index posts minimal gain

The MSE Equity Total Return Index returned to positive territory, as it climbed a marginal 0.029% to reach 9,710.359 points. A total of 56 transactions were recorded, as turnover generated amounted to just short of half a million. From the twelve active securities in the equity market, three headed north while five drifted lower.

The list of gainers was led by Medserv plc, as three transactions of a combined 3,300 shares were all executed at a price of €1.20.

In the banking sector, Bank of Valletta plc bounced back from Friday’s weak session, as it was up 1.82% to close at €1.12. The equity was responsible for over 42% of total turnover, as 188,400 shares were exchanged across 20 deals.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc, closed unchanged at €1.53, as eight transactions of 19,103 shares were recorded.

In the insurance sector, a sole deal of 2,000 Mapfre Middlesea plc shares, shaved 2.65% off the share price, to end the session at €2.20.

Meanwhile, telecommunications company, GO plc was down a minimal 0.43% to €4.58. Traded volume amounted to 3,500 shares over a couple of transactions.

Malta International Airport plc also drifted 0.72% lower, to a price of €6.90. A volume of 11,508 shares were exchanged across four deals.

BMIT Technologies plc was among the list of gainers, as its share price rose 0.95% to reach €0.53. In total, four deals of 44,278 shares were executed.

In the property sector, Trident Estates plc led the list of fallers with a 3.03% price decline to €1.92. The equity traded six times as 15,762 shares changed hands.

In the same sector, a single transaction of just 625 Tigne Mall plc shares dragged the share price 2.22% lower to €0.88.

Malita Investments plc traded flat at €0.86 over three deals of a combined 38,800 shares.

Elsewhere, International Hotel Investments plc and PG plc were also active but they both closed unchanged at €0.82 and €1.60 respectively.

In theCorporate Bonds Market,€151,160 worth of bonds were traded across 20 issues. The top performer was the 5% Mediterranean Investments Holding plc Unsecured € 2022 as it was up 1.48% to a price of €101.49. On the other hand, the 4% Exalco Finance plc Secured € 2028 lost 1.41% in value to €105.

Performances in theSovereign Bond Market were predominantly negative, as six issues drifted lower, while three issues traded higher. Although just nine issues were active, an impressive turnover of €9.5 million was generated.
