MSE Index in the red

MSE Daily Trading Report, 17July, 2019

The MSE Equity Total Return Index was unableto sustain yesterday’spositive performance as it closed 0.244% lower at 9,731.566 points. A total of 11 equities were active, of which only one advanced while another five declined. A turnover of €447,149 was generated across 40 deals.

The only positive performance of 0.94% for today’s session was recorded by BMIT Technologies plc as seven deals involving 160,400 shares pushedits price 0.94% to €0.535. A total turnover of €85,814 was generatedover seven deals.

In the banking sector, Bank of Valletta plc traded ten times but closed unchanged at €1.14. Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc lost 0.65% to €1.52 as a result ofa single transaction of 1,290 shares.

In the same sector, FIMBank plc closed unchanged at $0.615 despite trading 5,175 shares in one deal.

The property sector had a quite negative session today. Malta Properties Company plc lost 3.03% to close at €0.64,through one transaction involving 5,440 shares. Similarly, Tigne Mall plcfell 2.22% to €0.88 as a single deal of 55,000 shares was executed.

Meanwhile, Trident Estates plc was active but closed unchanged at €1.92. A single transaction of 2,570 shares generated a total turnover of €4,934.

In the same sector, Plaza Centres plcannounced that a board meeting shall be held on the July31,2019, to consider and approve the interim financial statements.

Eight transactions involving 50,875 shares decreased RS2 Software plc by a further 0.55%, generating a total turnover of €90,958.

Similarly, GO plcclosed 0.87% lower at €4.54 as four deals ofa combined17,600 were executed. A total turnover of €79,904 was recorded.

Four deals involving 8,000 Malta International Airport plc shares did not affect its price of €7.00. Total turnover totalled€56,050.

Similarly, PG plc closed unchanged at €1.60 despite trading twice,generatinga total turnover of €40,632.

In the Corporate Bonds Market, out of 12 active issues, three headed north while another two closed in the opposite direction. The best performer was the 4% International Hotel Investments plc Unsecured € 2026as it closed 1.66% higher at €104.

In the Sovereign Bond Market, 12 issues were active, of which eight registered gains while another three closed in the red. The 3% MGS 2040 (I) headed the list of gainers with a rise of 1.05%, as it ended the session at €132.
