NEW BOND ISSUE – 3% 62+ Malta Government Savings Bond (Maturing 13 September 2022)
We are pleased to inform you that the new fixed rate 62+ Malta Government Savings Bond announced by the Minister for Finance on 1st August 2017 will be opening to the general public aged 62 and over on the 4th of September 2017 and will close on the 6th of September or earlier at the discretion of the Accountant General.
The bond will offer a coupon of 3% per annum and will be issued at a price of €100 per bond. Bonds cannot be held jointly with any other individuals (The MSE Account Number quoted on the Application Form should be the same MSE Account number currently held in the SOLE name of the applicant as recorded at the Malta Stock Exchange). Bondholders may opt to withdraw the full amount invested in the 62+ Malta Government Savings Bond before maturity, however, a penalty equivalent to 3 months’ interest will be deducted from the final payment. In exceptional cases (serious health reasons only), the penalty will be waived.
Should you be interested in applying for the new bond, you are kindly requested to forward the application form as well as the order form (which can be downloaded below), together with a copy of your ID card and appropriate payment. Cheques are to be made payable to ‘The Accountant General‘. Eligible investors can apply for a maximum amount of €10,000 and for a minimum amount of €500 with multiples of €100 thereafter. Nixtiequ ninfurmawk li l-applikazzjonijiet għas-62+ Malta Government Savings Bond il-ġdid b’rata fissa mħabbar mill-Ministru tal-Finanzi fl-1 ta’ Awwissu 2017 se jiftħu għall-pubbliku ġenerali fl-età ta’ 62 sena jew aktar fl-4 ta’ Settembru 2017 u se jagħlqu fis-6 ta’ Settembru 2017 jew qabel skont id-diskrezzjoni tal-Accountant General.
Il-bond se joffri kupun ta’ 3 % fis-sena u se jinħareġ bil-prezz ta’ € 100 għal kull bond. Il-bonds ma jistgħux jinżammu b’mod konġunt ma’ xi individwi oħra (L-MSE Account Number ikkwotat fuq il-Formola tal-Applikazzjoni għandu jkun l-istess MSE Account Number li bħalissa qed jinżamm f’isem l-applikant BISS kif irreġistrat mal-Borża ta’Malta). Id-detenturi tal-bonds jistgħu jagħżlu li jiġbdu l-ammont sħiħ investit fis-62+ Malta Government Savings Bond qabel il-maturità tiegħu, madankollu, titnaqqas penali ekwivalenti għal 3 xhur imgħax mill-ħlas finali. F’każijiet eċċezzjonali (raġunijiet ta’ mard serju biss), il-penali titneħħa.
