MSE Index ends the week in positive territory
MSE Daily Trading Report, 28 February, 2020
The MSE Equity Total Return Index returned to positive territory as it closed 0.454% higher at 9,443.594 points. A total of 13 issues were active, of which six headed north while another two closed in the red. A total turnover of €412,382 was generated over 69 transactions.
In the banking industry, Bank of Valletta plc and HSBC Bank Malta plc were both active but closed unchanged at €1.05. BOV traded nine times over a spread of 24,260 shares, worth €25,341. Similarly, HSBC was active over six deals involving 51,270 shares, generating a total turnover of €53,834.
Meanwhile, Lombard Bank Malta plc traded once over 3,347 shares, which resulted into a positive 1.83% change in price. The bank ended the session at €2.22 while total turnover amounted to €7,430.
Malta International Airport plc recorded a 2.24% increase in price as it closed at €6.85. This was the result of 10 deals with a spread of 8,310 shares. Total turnover amounted to €56,137.
A sole deal of 1,000 Mapfre Middlesea plc shares pushed the price 2.63% higher to €2.34. A total turnover of €2,340 was recorded.
Telecommunications company, GO plc¸ traded once over 1,870 shares. As a result, price was up by 0.95%, to close at €4.24. The equity registered a total turnover of €7,929. Similarly, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc, closed 0.93% higher, reaching the €0.54 price level. A total turnover of €58,723 was recorded as nine deals involving 109,730 shares were executed.
RS2 Software plc advanced by 0.81% as it ended the session at €2.48. The equity was the most liquid as total turnover stood at €87,800. A total of 13 deals involving 36,318 shares were executed.
The worst performance for today’s session was recorded by PG plc, as it closed 2.97% lower at €1.96. Two deals involving 1,400 shares generated a total turnover of €2,744.
On a similar note, MaltaPost plc traded 1.54% lower as 5,500 shares changed ownership over three transactions. Total turnover amounted to €7,080.
Elsewhere, International Hotel Investment plc, Medserv plc and Malta Properties Company plc were all active but closed unchanged at €0.77, €1.03 and €0.67, respectively.
In the Sovereign Debt market, eight issues were active, of which one headed north while the rest lost ground. The only positive performer was the 3.3% MGS 2024 (I) as it closed 0.04% higher at €116.40. Meanwhile, the 5% MGS 2021(I) lost 0.54%, to close at €107.00.
In the Corporate Debt market, out of 20 active issues, nine registered gains while another seven closed in negative territory. The 4% International Hotel Investments plc Unsecured € 2026 headed the list of gainers as it closed 0.96% higher at €104.00. Conversely, the 5.8% International Hotel Investments plc 2021 traded 1.34% lower, ended the session at €103.00.
In the Prospects MTF market, six issues were active, of which two gained ground while the rest closed unchanged. The 5% HH Finance Plc Unsecured Euro Bonds 2023-2028 registered a 1% increase, to close at €101.00.
