MSE Index contracts further
MSE Daily Trading Report, 05 June 2020
The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered another loss of 0.102% as it reached 8,331.35 points. A total of 13 issues were active, of which five headed north while another four closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €384,800 was generated across 60 transactions.
Two equities that battled for the top gainer were Malta Properties Company plc and Plaza Centres plc. The former took the throne as its equity registered a surge of 14.81%. This was achieved through six transactions worth €52,270. The former company recorded an increase in the price of 13.29%, through a single exchange of 190 shares.
In the banking sector, Bank of Valletta plc’s equity price continued to fall as it went down by 0.99% to close at €1.00. Nine deals involving 90,422 shares were executed, worth €91,264. Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc also registered a similar faith as the price fell by 1.01% to close at €0.98. On the other hand, Lombard Bank Malta plc closed in positive territory, to end the session at €2.18 – a 5.83% increase.
RS2 Software plc reached €2.30 as seven deals involving 25,300 shares were executed. This translates into a 0.88% rise in price. A total turnover of €57,689 was recorded.
Similarly,BMIT Technologies plc was up by 1.25% as 70,823 shares changed hands over nine transactions, worth €34,010. Its parent company, GO plc, traded four times over a mix of 11,9950 shares, leaving no impact on the equity’s previous closing price of €3.60. Total turnover stood at €43,020.
Malta International Airport plc declined by 2.54% as it ended the week at €5.75. A total of 7,467 shares were spread over 11 deals, generating a total turnover of €43,862.
The worst performance was recorded by MIDI plc, as it lost 5%, ending the session at €0.38. Total turnover amounted to €17,180, as a result of six deals involving a mix of 45,000 shares.
Elsewhere, Simonds Farsons Ciks plc, Medserv plc and PG plc were all active but closed unchanged at €8.20, €0.67 and €2.00, respectively.
In the Sovereign Debt market, there were only four issues active, which all traded once. The 3% MGS 2040 (I) headed the list of gainers as it closed 0.71% higher, ending the session at €141.00. Conversely, the 5.25% MGS 2030 (I) lost a 4.52%, to close at €143.22.
In the Corporate Debt market, out of 15 active issues, out of which only two registered gains, while three closed in the red. The best performer was the 6% International Hotel Investments plc € 2024 as it closed at €102.00, translating into a 2.51% increase. On the other hand, the 3.75% Bortex Group Finance plc Unsecured € 2027 closed 0.97% lower at €101.01.
There was no activity in the Prospects MTF market.
