MSE Index registers a marginal gain
MSE Daily Trading Report, 30 January, 2020
The MSE Equity Total Return Index remained in positive territory as it closed 0.009% higher at 9,475.577 points. A total of 11 equities were active, of which three registered gains while another four traded lower. Total turnover amounted to €336,026, generated over 58 deals.
In the banking industry, HSBC Bank Malta plc declined by 2.78% as 44,446 shares changed hands over 10 transactions. The bank ended the session at €1.05 and generated a total turnover of €46,918.
Meanwhile, Bank of Valletta plc traded three times over a spread of 7,597 shares. This did not impact the bank’s previous closing price of €1.08, despite trading at €1.06 during the session. A total turnover of €8,117 was recorded.
Malta International Airport plc registered the highest liquidity of, €110,810 as 16,090 shares were spread over 19 deals. As a result, price was up by 1.46%, to close at €6.95. Yesterday afternoon, the company announced its long-term goals, including an investment of around €100 million in a terminal expansion. The company’s traffic forecast for 2020 shows that passenger numbers are expected to rise by an additional 2-3%, reaching 7.5 million movements.
Five deals involving 10,940 GO plc shares dragged the price 0.48% lower, to close at €4.14. Total turnover stood at €45,839. On the other hand, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc ended the session on a positive note with a 1.96% change in price to €0.52. This was the outcome of two deals involving 42,300 shares, which generated a total turnover of €21,996.
RS2 Software plc traded twice over 1,500 shares but closed unchanged at €2.30. During the day, the equity declined to €2.28 but managed to recoup the loss until end of session.
The best performer was Mapfre Middlesea plc with a 5.45% increase, to end the session at €2.32. A total turnover of €16,240 was generated as 7,000 shares were spread over two transactions.
PG plc lost 3.47% as it closed at €1.95. A total of 35,248 shares were executed over 10 deals, generating a total turnover of €69,098.
Similarly, MaltaPost plc closed 0.74% lower, to close at €1.34. This was the result of two deals involving 5,000 shares. Total turnover stood at €6,657.
A sole deal of 500 Simonds Farsons Cisk plc shares left the equity’s previous price unaltered at €10.80. Similarly, Malta Properties Company plc was also active but closed unchanged at €0.655. Two deals involving 3,000 shares were executed,
In the corporate debt market, eight issues were active, of which three headed north while another four closed in the opposite direction. The 3.25% AX Group plc Unsec Bds 2026 Series I headed the list of gainers as it closed 0.49% higher at €103.00. Conversely, the 5% Dizz Finance plc Unsecured € 2026 lost 0.87%, ending the session at €102.00.
On the sovereign debt front, out of 17 active issues, 12 advanced while another four lost ground,. The best performance of a 0.58% increase in price was recorded by the 3% MGS 2040 (I), as it closed at €141.50. On the other hand, the 2.4% MGS 2041 (I) closed 1.21% lower at €128.50.
In the prospects MTF market, no trades were recorded.
