HSBC and MIA push MSE Index into positive territory

The MSE Equity Total Return Index gained ground as it closed 0.175% higher at 9,053.523 points. A total of 13 equities were active, of which four headed north while another two closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €923,458 was generated over 52 transactions.

Malta International Airport plc managed to recoup part of its previous loss as it was up by 2.94%, reaching the €5.25 price level. This was the resulted of 44,944 shares spread over 21 deals, which generated a total turnover of €22,522.

Highest liquidity was recorded by HSBC Bank Malta plc as total turnover stood at €581,533. Five deals involving 570,062 shares pushed the price 0.98% higher, as it closed at €1.03.

Meanwhile, Bank of Valletta plc executed seven deals with a mix of 62,302 shares. The bank’s previous closing price of €1.04 was not altered. Total turnover amounted to €64,794.

Another positive performer was BMIT Technologies plc, as it closed at €0.54, translating into a 1.89% change in price. A total turnover of €16,626 was generated as the equity traded twice over 27,100 shares. Its parent company, GO plc¸ traded once on slim volume but closed unchanged at €4.20.

A sole deal of 2,500 GlobalCapital plc shares resulted into a 6.48% increase in price, as it closed at €0.23. The equity generated a slim turnover.

Mapfre Middlesea plc closed in the red as it closed at €2.30, translating into a 0.86% fall in price. A total turnover of €4,140 was generated as 1,800 shares changed ownership across two deals.

In the property sector, MIDI plc headed the list of fallers as it closed 9.09% lower at €0.40. Turnover amounted to €1,040 as 2,500 shares changed hands over two transactions.

Trident Estates plc traded three times over a spread of 4,140 shares, leaving no impact on the equity’s previous closing price of €1.62. A total turnover of €6,707 was recorded.

Similarly, Malta Properties Company plc was active but closed unchanged at €0.63. Two deals involving 9,800 shares generated a total turnover of €6,174.

One deal of slim volume did not alter Santumas Shareholding plc’s previous closing price of €1.50.

International Hotel Investments plc ended the session unchanged at €0.68. Four deals involving 12,428 shares were executed, worth €8,429.

On a similar note, Main Street Complex plc was also active but closed unchanged at €0.57. The equity traded once on slim volume.

In the Sovereign Debt market, out of seven active issues, one registered a gain while another five traded lower. The only positive performer was the 5.1% MGS 2022(I) as it closed 0.03% higher at €112.90.

In the Corporate Debt market, 24 issues were active, of which five advanced while another four lost ground. The best performer was the 3.5% Bank of Valletta plc € Notes 2030 S1 T1 as it closed 1.98% higher at €103.00. On the other hand, the 4% International Hotel Investments plc Secured € 2026 lost 0.48%, ending the session at €103.00.

In the Prospects MTF market, seven issues were active. The 5% Luxury Living Finance plc € Secured Bonds 2028 was the most liquid as total turnover stood at €10,174.
