MSE Index heads north
MSE Daily Trading Report, 21 April, 2020
The MSE Equity Total Return Index managed to recoup its previous loss as it closed 1.327% higher at 8,142.562 points. A total of 14 equities were active, of which seven advanced while another two closed in negative territory. A total turnover of €221,603 was generated over 51 transactions.
In the banking industries, Bank of Valletta plc registered a 1.96% gain as 10,987 shares changed hands over five deals. Price reached the €1.04 price level while total turnover over amounted to €11,380. Similarly, its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc ended the session at €0.98 – translating into a 1.03% increase. Three deals involving 6,000 shares generated a total turnover of €5,880.
Lombard Bank Malta plc was also active but closed unchanged at €2.10. Total turnover stood at €20,163 as four deals involving 10,060 shares were executed.
The most liquid equity was Malta International Airport plc as a total turnover of €97,300 was recorded. Nine deals involving 19,528 shares did not impact the equity’s previous closing price of €4.98.
A sole deal of 1,600 International Hotel Investments plc resulted into a 5.04% increase, to close at €0.625. The equity generated a slim turnover.
The best performer for today’s session was MaltaPost plc as it recorded a double-digit gain of 33.33%, to close at €1.20. This was the outcome of three deals involving 3,500 shares, worth €3,877.
Simonds Farsons Cisk plc advanced by 4.38% as it closed at €8.35. A total turnover of €14,874 was generated as 1,792 shares changed ownership across eight transactions.
Similarly, retail conglomerate, PG plc, traded 1.11% higher at €1.82 as four deals involving 4,737 shares were executed. Total turnover amounted to €8,621.
Moving on to the property sector, MIDI plc enjoyed a positive session is it closed 6.84% higher at €0.406. A total of 46,750 shares were spread across four transactions, generating a total turnover of €18,773.
On the other hand, Malta Properties Company plc closed in the red at €0.55 – translating into a 7.56% decline. A single deal of 3,350 shares generated a total turnover of €1,843.
One deal of 3,000 Medserv plc shares dragged the price lower to €0.89. The equity headed the list of fallers as it declined by 11%.
BMIT Technologies plc was active but the previous closing price of €0.488 was not altered. Six deals involving 70,000 nominal generated a total turnover of €34,160.
Elsewhere, RS2 Software plc and Grand Harbour Marina plc were both active but closed unchanged at €1.90 and €0.75, respectively.
In the Sovereign Debt market, out of 10 active issues, five registered gains while another three lost ground. The 3% MGS 2040 (I) was the best performer as it closed 5.76% higher at €147.00. Meanwhile, the 4.1% MGS 2034 (I) declined by 0.33%, ending the session at €150.00.
In the Corporate Debt market, 18 issues were active, of which six headed north while another three closed in the opposite direction. The 5% Dizz Finance plc Unsecured € 2026 headed the list of gainers as it closed 3.16% higher at €98.00. Conversely, the 4.35% Hudson Malta plc Unsecured € 2026 lost 2.42%, ending the session at €101.00.
In the Prospects MTF market, the 5% Luxury Living Finance plc € Secured Bonds 2028 was active as it closed 0.90% lower at €99.00.
